From the Archives - Clair Obscure
this is a film still from a little thing I did way back when.
It was my first real film - first year film school. I wanted to make a movie about my nervous breakdown, and coming through the darkness. Everybody told me that a film like this was out of my reach - "it's your first year", "but you've never made a film before", "you are biting off more than you can chew...", "you'll never get it made in time". Everybody doubted me - including my teacher, but I proved them all wrong. And at the end of the school year, I shared my film to a packed auditorium of 500 people, and they loved it, and then at the WWF where it won honourable mention.
I'm trying to find a way to put it on You Tube, and when I do, I'll announce it here.
Looking back at this photo, I find it eerie how 12 years later, I would go on to revisit this moment in my blue series;. this image has been hiding in my archives for that long.
So I decided to bring it back - to remind myself that I still fight those demons, but have come a long way, created works of art that has changed people's lives. And this makes me so very happy - more than any amount of money can buy.
