Lady in orange
This porcelain half doll dates from the 1920s. I wrapped a piece of sari silk ribbon around her because, well, she needed it. :)
The 2 wooden cotton reels at the front date from the 1940s. Having worked for the John Lewis Partnership as a management trainee (briefly in the 1970s - one of a few false starts in my career!), it was fun to find these. The shade of the Sylko reel at the back is Orange Lily, but I've banished it to the background because it's a plastic one. If I don't tell anyone, they won't know, right? :)
On the right is a glass bead (not a button, for once) and behind everything is a Japanese puzzle box I found recently in a second-hand shop. It's not straightforward to open because it requires a series of movements to be done in the right sequence, but it was easy to find out how to solve it online. Sadly, the previous owner had probably not done that because they had cut out a little square on one side in an effort to open it. Luckily, that was easily glued back in and I got a bargain in the process.
For this week's Smile on Saturday group theme, Orange.
