Memories

This is an old brass thimble from the 1930s, which would have been given away to advertise Hovis bread. The scissors are by Mappin & Webb and date from the 1900s. The Sylko wooden cotton reel is 'only' about 70 years old and the little brass enamelled sewing kit (which still contains tiny cotton reels and needles) is from the 1930s. I think that's everything. :)

Anyone who remembers the 1973 Hovis advert is probably now picturing a young lad pushing his bike up a steep, cobbled street and gently humming Largo from Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 'From the New World'. Sorry. :)
