Nickel silver thimble

Despite not having a practical bone in my body, for some reason I enjoy photographing sewing bits and pieces. This is a nickel silver thimble (by Charles Iles) from the 1900s. Nickel silver actually contains no silver at all, but is a range of alloys of copper, nickel, and zinc, which give it a silvery appearance. The button in the background dates from the same period and is made from brass and steel.
