Bonobo (pan paniscus),one of the four species of great apes. They are omnivorous primates that consume a varied diet. Their primary food source is fruit, which can make up over 50% of their diet. They also consume a wide range of other plant materials, including:

leaves, seeds, flowers, bark, roots, and nuts. Bonobos are found in a relatively small area of the Congo Basin within the Democratic Republic of the Congo. San Diego Zoo

Conservation status: Endangered
