TU-TAP Boeing 747-254F of Air Afrique Cargo at Paris CDG
The Boeing Collection - a tribute to the Boeing 747 'Queen of the Skies'
From a collection of some 500 Boeing slides that I've had scanned from my archives. Hope they will provide some enjoyment and nostalgia from a bygone age.
One of Air Afrique's small fleet of just two dedicated cargo Boeing 747Fs TU-TAP is seen here, heading down the runway at Paris CDG. The aircraft was one of a small batch of freighters that Air Afrique operated, alongside their DC-8s.
TU-TAP 'Lome' c/n 22169 - Boeing 747-2S4F-SCD was delivered new to Air Afrique in Oct 1980. The aircraft only flew with the airline for three years before passing to Nationair in 1984, leased to Saudi in full scheme 1984-85, to Cargolux in 1985 as LX-TAP, Korean Air as HL7474 in 1986, re-registered as HL7424 in 1998, and finally to British cargo airline MK Airlines as 9G-MKQ in 2003, later re-registered as G-MKAA. The aircraft ended up stored at Filton, Bristol in 2008 and was eventually broken up after 28 years of flying!
Taken with a Soviet made Zenith TTL camera and 300mm lens. From an original slide, scanned and unrestored.
