Welcome to Portland where you might fall victim to their daily homocide.

I don't care for being a victim or being a statistic. It's weird the things they took & didn't take. They left the 2 bags of coffee I bought for Thomas but took the first aid kit. They left the shovel but took my favorite grocery store tote bags (probably to carry stuff). They took everything in the center console top & bottom including really old chapstick, but left the sunblock & masks. They left my plants & plants pots and I'm happy about that, but I was on edge the whole rest of the day & too upset to eat.

End of an era ... my last time ever staying at Ace Hotel in downtown Portland. It's just too dangerous! My car was broken into & there was a gun shot at night while I was sleeping. So many businesses are gone now. This area of town used to be so alive at night, esp. on the weekends. Families waiting in line for ice cream, shoppers, & restaurant goers, but not anymore.

I wonder how much longer Powell's Bookstore will hold out?

"A 30-block section of downtown Portland has become the city’s latest hotspot for petty crime, open drug use & general lawlessness. The fact that a growing, roving drug market was allowed to operate largely unabated among the area’s stately banks & luxury hotels is only part of the cause, coupled w/ a surge of dirt-cheap fentanyl & fallout from Oregon’s decriminalization of street drugs, made the narrow slice of downtown a place of human misery & death."

Good thing I checked out a day early & left when I did. "Shootout, over 100 rounds fired."
