Lettuce thief
I've been growing mixed salad leaves in a pot on my balcony. Since the weather has turned cold and darker, I've brought it in to my kitchen window sill. It's having another growth spurt but I've noticed that the sides of some of the leaves are getting chomped. Closer inspection reveals these little nasties. They're tiny - less than 1mm - the whole leaf in this picture is about 3cm and you can only see about a third of the leaf here.
I'm left wondering whether to spray it with some kind of pesticide - what'd be safe to use while still hoping to eat the lettuce? Is there any organic alternative? Should I just throw the crop and start again next year? Or is it safe to eat anyway, given a thorough washing?
