LEGO Art: 'After Escher'

by hd_lego

This LEGO® creation is inspired by the work of the Dutch artist Maurits Cornelis ESCHER (1898-1972).

One amongst many things this graphic artist was experimenting with was the 'Regular Division of the Plane' (a composition form depicting irregular shapes or combinations of shapes that interlock completely to cover a surface or plane).

Most of his work is mathematically inspired.

The shapes I used in this ‘After Escher’ creation are completely new and have been imagined based on the LEGO proportions. It is thus not a reproduction of an existing work, but rather a new creation ‘in the spirit of’.

Dimensions:
- 48 * 320 studs
- 38 * 254 cm
