spice shop man

As candid street photographers our relationship with the general public has its ups and down from being shouted at out for our supposed intrusiveness to people being flattered at our interest in them.

But occasionally things take a different direction.

I was walking through the souk in Akko and went into the spice shop only to find that the owner has suddenly passed away. His son was now running the shop and after offering my condolences I told him I taken a candid portrait of his father in the shop a year or so before and I would get him a copy made. He was delighted.

For once I was the good guy.
