Yamato Hime
Yamato-hime no Mikoto resp. is the daughter of Suinin Tennō and his wife Hibasu-hime. Her brother, Keikō Tennō, is the father of Yamato Takeru, who in turn receives the mythologically significant Kusanagi sword from his aunt Yamato-hime.
According to the Nihon shoki, after years of wandering, Yamato-hime made the choice of Ise Shrine's final location for Amaterasu, where she then assumed the role of chief priestess. Yamato-hime is also a key mythological figure in terms of imperial regalia.
At that time, the Sovereign Great Deity deigned to fulfill the illustrious dream of the Yamato-hime no mikoto and deigned to instruct them: "The land and place for the great illustrious shrine, which I as I them when I was in the high heavens sat and pushed open the illustrious door, formerly saw, saw and sought, these are here. I deign to remain here and establish myself.
Aston 1896, p. 176
In order to comply with this express wish, Yamato-hime had a shrine built near the Isuzu (which subsequently became the Inner Shrine naikū of Ise) to worship Amaterasu exclusively and to do justice to her position as a cult princess.
