Blue Cross - Blue Shield Monorail 2 @ Hersheypark

Universal Mobility [installed 1969]

Hersheypark, Hershey PA

The Blue Cross/Blue Shield Monorail travels through the park grounds and over ZooAmerica, the monorail has quite a few areas where the scenery gets interesting and crosses a ravine where the ground drops away dramatically. The three six car trains are all painted blue and emblazoned with the Blue Cross/Blue Shield logo. Thirty six passengers can be carried on the six minute round trip. Capable of carrying 1300 passengers per hour at up to twelve miles an hour, this is the first of the Universal Mobility Incorporated monorails that have been installed in the US (Bombardier owns the assets of UMI now, and has installed updated versions of these trains in Jacksonville and Tampa).
