Highlands Station (Hinsdale IL)
Highland Road near County Line Road
First established as a flag stop on the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy RR in the late 1870's. The station building itself probably dates from the 1870's or 1880's based on its rubble masonry facades, Eastlake trim and ornamental brickwork above the windows. Sometime after the turn of the century, when the tracks were raised, a basement was constructed under the original building. The station still faithfully serves commuters daily on the METRA commuter line from Aurora to Chicago on the BNSF.
