1945 CSS&SB Station (Hegewisch Chicago IL)
This brick box depot was designed by architect Kenneth R. Vaughn of Hammond IN in 1945. Inside the station was a functional waiting room with a marble-topped lunch counter across from the benches. Rest rooms, telephone booths and a ticket office were also present on either side of the rear door which provided access to the tracks. The concession owner, who ran the lunch counter and newsstand also kept geraniums in the front windows.
