George Elmy Returns

The George Elmy last left this slipway 17th November 1962. The lifeboat was launched in response to distress signals from a fishing coble but just before reaching the safety of the harbour, capsized with the loss of nine lives - including all the lifeboat crew. Only one survivor. She has been restored and returned today. A moving occasion. www.seahamlifeboats.oneuk.com/seaham%20lifeboat%20disaste...

About five minutes after this, as the boat sailed into the north dock, there was an almighty clap of thunder. Somehow fitting.

The light quality in this is crap I know.
