the day the world took you back

I've been gone for a while now. Instead of making excuses, I'll just start posting photos again, and hopefully, someday, you'll find it in your hearts to take me back. :-)

I finally found the courage to enter that abandoned house up the road I had mentioned. Completely alone, I have never felt that level of fear in the broad light of day. The rather spacious house itself has almost been taken over by the massive vegetation surrounding it. When I saw the interior through a broken out window, my eyes were immediately drawn to the carpet. I'd know that green anywhere. Ahh, the 70s.

With a deep breath that I held, I pushed open the door and walked into the living room. My imagination raced through all possible scenarios of what (or who) I might find and how I would respond (run!). Looking at the stripped walls and debris scattered on the floor, I couldn't help but wonder what happened that the place would be abandoned like this. The house had maintained its structurally integrity. The roof still intact. No visible burns. Structurally it seemed fine, although this here was as far as I went up the stairs. In fact this was the only room I technically entered. If there were a place to have ghosts, this would be it and frankly I wasn't interested in facing them alone.
