II. Meeting the Suitor
Entering the castle, the princess sees an unwelcome sight - yet another suitor.
More photos and technical description!
Part I: Morning in the Gardens
Part II: Meeting the Suitor
2nd of 4 scenes in my collab with Cab ~ for the "Just Another 'Normal' Day" category of the Summer Joust. Quite different from the style of many of my past mocs, and considerably more difficult to design than I expected (ended up spending twice as long on this as I had planned). See more technical description and photos in the imgur album. Chandelier is based on a wonderful design from Thorsten Bonsch. Also this thing is quite large and took up nearly my entire supply of dark tan.
A careful observer might notice something unusual somewhere on the right side -- you'll see that explained in my next part! (UPDATE: For those who didn't notice - yes, that's a door to a secret passage behind the bookshelf! It leads to the underground tunnels that the princess escapes through in Part III.)
As a side note, I took a different approach to designing this than I normally do, and built a micro sketch moc first to test out colors/layout/sizing. Ended up working quite well to avoid some issues that I would have otherwise had. (I never actually ended up finishing the sketch build, otherwise I would have posted it here).
