British Midland Airways Limited (trading at various times throughout its history as British Midland, bmi British Midland, bmi or British Midland International) was a British airline founded in 1946 as flying school that started scheduled services in 1953. The airline flew to destinations in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, North America and Central Asia. BMI was acquired from Lufthansa by International Airlines Group (IAG) on 20 April 2012, and was integrated into British Airways (BA) by 27 October 2012. BMI operated also a fleet of DC-9: 9 from the series -10 and 9 from the series -30.

G-BMAB (DC-9-15 c/n 45738 l/n 54) was delivered in October 1966 to TWA as N1057T. In November 1979 it was sold to British Midland as G-BMAB and operated until August 1994 when it was sold to Intercontinental Colombia as HK-3958X (later HK-3958). Eventually retired in JUne 2004 and grounded in BOG, the plane was seized by the Government in February 2005 and leater broken-up.
