Babe wit Box
This "speed fastener," made by Parrot Speed Fastener, the forerunner of Swingline, dates to 1934. The dating can be pretty precise because the box says "Made in the USA under the Blue Eagle." The Blue Eagle was a designation adopted in 1933 in New Deal legislation and abolished in 1935 that indicated the product was made by a company with fair labor practices. The box also contains a drawing of a parrot. Inside is a numbered "Guarantee Bond," which has a coupon that the buyer must return to the company for the guarantee to take effect. The stapler is only about 4.5 inches long and was made in New York City.
