blankets for Children's Hospital

As we get ready to start a new year with GS, I was reflecting back on some of the successes we had last year and wanted to share.

For the holidays we sponsored a family in need and purchased gifts for them. We encouraged the girls to use some of their own personal money, and then we got together and wrapped all the presents. Our goal was to give this family the best Christmas ever. I could see the excitement in the girls' eyes when they saw the power of a team and how together we can truly make a difference.

Moving on to Valentine's day, we decided to use some of our cookie money to make fleece blankets for Children's Hospital in Denver. The girls had a great time tieing knots and creating something they new an ill child would appreciate. Because of the flu "epidemic" we weren't able to deliver them ourselves, but the girls still "got it" and had fun in the process.

For our final "WOW!" project the girls decided to create either a short public service announcement in the form of a video, or a poster to share with friends and relatives on water conservation. They were fabulous and they truly spread the word on how we all can help conserve this precious resource.

When I look back and see that these were just a smattering of all the incredible things we experienced, it was truly a fantastic year. Girl Scouting has been the venue for us to experience so many different things and encourage our girls to try something new. With all we accomplished last year, this year is bound to be even better as the girls mature and grow. Thanks for all your support at the Denver headquarters!

Cheers,
