Red Lane
Red Lane is an ancient trackway and ox-track that has remained unchanged for centuries. These tracks are called "holloways" because they have been worn down below the level of the surrounding fields after hundreds of years of use. Standing here with only the sounds of the birdsong and the breeze rustling the trees and hedgerows it is easy to imagine that you have travelled back in time, and you half-expect to see an ox-cart to appear trundling around the corner.
The sad news is that this remarkable place is about to be destroyed forever by HS2.
