The players wake up from a VR simulation in amidst what appears to be a hostage situation. They are Shadowrunners, and have been playing a large media company's latest version of the D&D game, a public demo for an enthralled audience. There's even a real life baby Blue dragon in a cage for them to gawk at.
The animal rights activists don't like this at all. They're being faced down by a big, dumb tree spirit and a pack of wolves.
