Looking out from Willows Covered Bridge

The bridge, now known as the Willows Covered Bridge, is located along Route 30 in the heart of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania's outlet and tourist section. The bridge is a mesh of two different bridges of the past. The first bridge was the Miller's Farm Bridge, which linked Providence and Strasburg Townships. That bridge was 75 feet long and was constructed in 1871 for $1,875. The second bridge was the Goods Ford Bridge, which crossed Pequea Creek at 79 feet in length. The Goods Ford Bridge was built in 1855 for $1,165. Both bridges had been planned to be demolished in 1962 at about the same time. Adolph Neuber, then owner of the Amish Farm and House, a local tourist attraction, was given the Miller Farm Bridge by the County of Lancaster for preservation reasons. Mr. Neuber then purchased the Good Ford Bridge with intentions to use it to repair rotted wood on the newly acquired Miller Farm Bridge. In the end, with help from Roy Zimmerman, they combined both bridges to form the Willows Covered Bridge.

The bridge was named after Mr. Neuber's restaurant, located next door from 1931 through 1996.
