Albert Mountain Fire Tower

This 43 foot tower was built in 1951, having been relocated from South Carolina and used for fire detection until the early 1990's. The Appalachian Trail literally passes right by the tower at mile marker 100 +/- or you can drive F.S. Rd 67 out of the Standing Indian basin and take a short 0.5 mile hike to the summit which is at an elevation of 5250 feet. Listed with the National Historic Lookout Register on December 30, 1993.
