Dragonfly - Male Roseate Skimmer (Orthemis ferruginea)

I photographed this Dragonfly today at the Riparian Bird Preserve in Gilbert Arizona USA.

 

I thought it was cool how he looked to be riding the plant!

This isn't normally a macro lens but I found that by shooting at 400mm and cropping I could get a marco like capture.

 

I found out this is a male Roseate Skimmer (Orthemis ferruginea) a common southern dragonfly. I had no idea they were common, I have never seen one before. I just thought it was cool looking and had to get a shot of it.
