In Search of Steak
This trip to Disney we tried some steak at various eateries within our clipboard o' fun itinerary. First, we tried T-Rex Diner. It was perfectly cooked but essentially dog food meat. Really low quality cut of meat.
We also tried Le Cellier in the Canadian Pavilion at Epcot. They are known for their steaks and for a strange level of Un-Disney-like snootiness. The Ribeye was a fantastic cut of meat, perfectly cooked to temperature but not very good. Instead of accentuating the natural flavors of Ribeye Marbling they insist on over seasoning with some very overpowering maple butter seasoning. I like more steak and less pancake in my steak.
Service was good and friendly. I'm a good tipper. They were a tad slow but last time I was Ontario, the fine folks around me were not in much of a hurry either. ;).
The hands down winner this trip for best steak was Shutters at the Caribbean Beach Resort. Blackened with a nice palette of complimentary flavors, the NY Strip was perfectly cooked and delivered with a expert level of precision from the open kitchen where we see food prep as if a glance into The Food Network.
Limited tables, Shutters had a 1 hour wait for non reservation seating. With a reservation our wait was still nearly 30 minutes. The wait staff is slow, but not too slow. Just enough to exude the island mentality and not to frustrate.
We would definitely recommend you try Shutters if you are seeking a good steak during your next Disney trip.
