I find the cultural differences between different parts of the US to be fascinating. Alabama is VERY different from Louisiana. Florida is often very different than Alabama, even amongst neighboring towns.

 

 

Then, at a place like Disney World, it gets really interesting. People from all over the US converge with people from all over the world onto Florida’s hot, humid, developed swamp land to celebrate family, entertainment.. and strangely enough, world culture.

 

 

Waiting in queues you can very quickly learn who believes in the use of deodorant and those cultures who do not. You get a sample of child-bearing techniques, different husband-wife dynamics and all sorts of erm... costumes, reflective of their local customs.

 

 

I can’t help but wonder what a person coming to Disney World, from say... Asia, might come to think about the American Culture?

 

 

If this were their only exposure to American Life, they’d see Americans as a bunch of “goofy’s” . People wearing too much perfume and mickey ears, slurping down turkey legs between $25 cheeseburgers.

 

Those Americans... They really live it up!
