A crappy capture of Saturn. (With somewhat less crappy video!)

For me, photography of in-solar system objects has proven more difficult than deeper sky objects. Ironic.

 

Saturn can fill a large portion of the viewfinder on either of these scopes with a 9.7mm eyepiece. The issue stands that those eyepieces are very short and when used with the eyepiece projection tube that attaches to the t-mount (camera adaptor) on either telescope, the focal length coming from the eyepiece falls short of the CCD of the camera. (So, the good eyepiece… shows nothing but black on the camera but looks amazing to your eye..)

 

I'm still working on the focal length problem, trying to work out the right distance from the CCD to get the eyepiece and working on improvising a rig where I can hopefully do so, safely - without risking damage to the Sony's sensor.

But, since the warm weather is near, it'll likely be fall before I can capture DECENT images of the planets.
