Comparative photos of Angat Watershed

Photo at left shows trees that are normally submerged when Angat Dam waters are at the normal 220 meters above sea level (masl). The photo was taken last April 13, when it hit the critical level of 180 masl and supply to 30,000 ha of farmland shuts off. Photo at right was taken last Friday (July 16), when levels reached its historical low of 157.55 despite the rains, triggering interrupted water supply in Metro Manila. This prompted water utility companies to implement a water rationing scheme to address the dwindling volume of water in the reservoir. Angat supplies 97% of Metro Manila's water supply.
