The Hopping Leaf
Teratodes monticollis, the Hooded grasshopper is a grasshopper native to India and Sri Lanka. It belongs to the family Acrididae and sub-family Teratodinae. The pronotum (dorsal exoskeletal plate of the prothorax) is extended into a large hood like structure with a Yellow edge, giving it the resemblence of a leaf.
