Mentzelia sp
We found these scattered in Padrone Canyon. Originally I thought they were Fire Poppies since It looks like there had been a fire here in the last few years. I found no record of a fire online. I have since been corrected by Treebeard
The Carrizo Plain National Monument Vegetation Classification and
Mapping Project shows 5 species of Mentzelia to exist in the Carrizo area.
