West Highland Lines

by goremirebob

Before I moved to Scotland in 1985 I was only dimly aware of a railway called the 'West Highland' which I knew was north of the border and was a scenic route, but that was about it. A Wirral Railway Circle railtour to Mallaig in 1975 went some way to curing my ignorance. But it's only since I've lived within easy reach of the lines north of Craigendoran Junction to Oban, Fort William and Mallaig that I've come to truly appreciate the magnificence of the West Highland. I've also had the immense privilege of being involved with its day to day operation professionally. I commend it to railway enthusiasts everywhere.
