318: Surfing into the New Year
Today marks not only the last day of 2008, but also the last day of "Flickr Group Roulette" as we know it. I first started noticing this group when Super Sancho occasionally played during his 365 project. In need of a little 365 inspiration over spring break, I decided to start playing. Best. Decision. Ever. FGR helped give me ideas when I was at a loss and gave me a good group of fellow 365'ers to keep track of. I used the group about 50 times during my project and would have done so more often had I not led the hectic lifestyle I did during the campaign.
So I salute you FGR for your entertaining game and your awesome members. You have helped me keep my 365 project alive and now I only have to go it alone for about 50 more days.
The theme on the first day I played was "Ridin Inanimate Found Objects", so I thought it best to incorporate that into today's shot. I've also tried to add several other themes I've used over the months.
"Half Nekkid Thursday"
"Happy Aloha Thursday"
"Ridiculously Good Looking"
"Ugly Couch Surfing"
"Widescreen"
"Aviators and Moustaches"
As for 2008. The good things can be counted much quicker than the bad. We elected an awesome new president, I graduated from college, and I had a fascinating experience traveling the country to do campaign work. However, the economy is in the dumps, the family was hit by lots of unexpected expenses, and the world in general is in need of brighter days. So I welcome the new year with open arms. A new job, President Obama, a new place to live; certainly the makings of a better trip around the sun this time.
So Happy New Year to you all, and fare thee well FGR!
PS: Fug you asshats, and well played, back to the game we go
