Frank N Pod: It's alive!

my nearly 6 year old ipod 4g 40gb stopped connecting to my pc.

the debug menu said:

iramtest failed (when selected from the menu, the automatic iram test at startup succeeded)

 

but a friend had an already cannibalized ipod 4g 20gb (with dead battery & hdd) lying around

so my battery, hdd & backcase were combined with the electronics board & front piece of that one

 

passes the iram test, works as a usb drive, but itunes does not detect.

but after trying to install rockbox, itunes miraculously found it again...
