Oldham Corporation Transport 302EBU and 303EBU
Every large bus company needs a van or two to carry inspectors, carry workmen and their tools to repair bus stops and so on. These 'ancillary' vehicles can be converted old buses, but in the case of Oldham Corporation two brand new Land Rover vehicles were bought in 1963, including a quite rare forward control version. Oldham sits at the feet of the Pennines and its operating area reached far up into the hills, so we're not surprised to see that the town's Corporation Passenger Transport Department left nothing toi chance with a pair of these go-anywhere vehicles.
We're not quite sure who the gentleman on the right is, but the person on the left is Harry Taylor - General Manager of Oldham Corporation Transport, and whose name appeared on these vehicles (and every bus in the fleet). He later became SELNEC's Director of Engineering after Oldham was absorbed into SELNEC in November 1969.
