Greater Manchester Transport 6785, Bolton

This is Deansgate, Bolton. Dunn and Company opposite the bus stop has gone, and so has the Lower Nags Head (you can find out more about the history of the pub at lostpubsofbolton.blogspot.co.uk/2014/10/lower-nags-head-o...). And 6785 has gone, too - it was a Leyland 'Atlantean' bus delivered to Bolton Corporation Transport in 1968 in a modern cream and maroon style. Bolton Transport got a new General Manager in the 1960s, Ralph Bennett, who was innovative and brought in a brighter colour scheme, and buses built to new and attractive designs. He later moved on to Manchester where he drove the 'Mancunian' design and then on to London, where he was behind the development of the 'Londoner' - better known today as the DMS bus type.
