Oldham Corporation Transport 427
Oldham's crimson and white colour scheme included generous lining-out, all done by hand, well into the 1950s until it was cut to reduce costs. This 1957 bus had a modern 'tin front' and all-metal bodywork, but still incorporated yards of lining.
This photo was taken by the bodywork manufacturer Metro-Cammell of Birmingham close to their Elmdon factory near Birmingham airport. The 153 never ran to Manchester Cannon Street - the blinds would just be set 'randomly' by someone at MCW for the photograph.
