Operation Rolo 2
Around 250 Greater Manchester Police officers were this morning involved in a series of raids, which took place at addresses in Gorton, Withington and Levenshulme.
The arrests form part of the second phase of Operation Rolo to crack down on drug dealing and the crimes often carried out by addicts to feed their habits.
Today’s activities follow months of intelligence-gathering after reports of drug dealing in south Manchester.
Chief Superintendent Russ Jackson, divisional commander of Greater Manchester Police's Metropolitan Division, said: "Today's operation has been the result of months of work by officers acting on information given to them by local people.
“Drug dealing and the criminality associated with it blights people’s lives.
“In the network of drug dealing, each person plays their part in creating misery for communities, from street dealers to the people who commit crimes to fund their habits.
“The message is clear to anyone who we suspect of getting involved in this sort of criminal behaviour: we are coming for you.”
Anybody with any information about drug dealing in their area should contact GMP on 0161 872 5050 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
