Safe and Secure in Openshaw

Child wristbands have been donated to SureStart nurseries in Openshaw to help parents keep their children safe.

PCSO Ian Farr received a £200 donation from Greggs Bakery North West in order to buy the wristbands. The bands act like a security strap with one end going around the toddler’s wrist and the other end around the parent’s wrist to stop toddlers wandering off and getting lost.

A total of 200 wristbands will be shared out between four SureStart nurseries in the Openshaw area of Bradford as they have supported the scheme.

PCSO Ian Farr from the Bradford Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We are always concerned about the safety of babies and young children and will always keep an eye out for youngsters while out on patrol of the area.

"This is a simple idea that could stop a child from running out into the road or getting lost.”
