This Sporting Life...1976
As we launch into the 2016/17 Premiere League, we thought we would share this image from the archives of the Greater Manchester Police Museum.
Back in 1976, the Force launched a major recruitment campaign. A GMP photographer was despatched to capture a series of images around the region.
The campaign seems to have had something of a sports theme as several shots seem to feature famous stadiums and sports people of the day.
This image was taken at Manchester United’s training ground, The Cliff in Salford.
Our young constable stands chatting to United’s manager Tommy Docherty and Scottish international star Stewart Houston.
From the collection of the Greater Manchester Police Museum.
