BaskettSlough-432-Edit

I’ve been working on incorporating what I was taught as a painter in college into my landscape photos. I see so many HDR landscapes with over-saturated colors that I thought I’d take a different route. My main concern as it is every artist who works in a 2D format is to give the illusion of depth, that is, the Z axis. I do this as I was taught as a painter by cooling color as it recedes in the background (usually at a faster rate than what it would be in real life). I soften and reduce detail as the land moves into the background. I also have been experimenting with techniques that reproduce the kinds of pearlescent skies that we used to get using oil glazes.
