Diorama - Mossend District General Hospital. 1:76 scale - OO Gauge.
High angled overview of the public entrance, ambulance entrance and ambulance parking area.
Welcome to Mossend District General Hospital. Administered by NHS Lanarkside, Mossend provides 24/7 Emergency Department services to Belshotmuir and the surrounding area. The Department also contains a Minor Injuries Unit in addition to having an attached GP Admission/Assessment Unit.
To the front right of the Department are marked ambulance parking bays. The two bays nearest to the door are designated as “Resus Only”, meaning they are to be saved for crews whose patient is so ill or injured as to require the hospital be put on standby to receive them. Travelling using blue lights and sirens, this is the only genuine time a person can claim to have been “rushed” to hospital.
To the far left of the building is a Portakabin installed by the Scottish Ambulance Service as a canteen and quiet room for SAS staff only.
Transport - A taxi rank is located directly outside the Department. A bus stop is directly across the road. Two local operators have services reaching Mossend. Stuarts of Carluke have commenced their “Hospital Shuttle” - service 400. Meanwhile FirstBus have launched their own “Hospital Link” service 100 in addition to rerouting service 263 through the Hospital grounds.
In reality this is a Kingsway kit, based on Holby City’s ED when Casualty was filmed in Cardiff. It has been slightly modified and renamed/rebadged.
