The famous old cathedral in the center of Merida, Mexico. By the afternoon light it is a particularly beautiful color. When the Spanish colonized the region they worked to stamp out the old spiritual beliefs. Some of the buildings in the city center are made from stones taken from Mayan buildings and ruins.
