The Bear's Hut
This curious little hut is located within the gardens of Killerton, a National Trust maintained 18th century house and estate. The bear's hut was built 1808 as some kind of summerhouse for the family of Sir Thomas Dyke Acland who resided at Killerton at that time.
The hut is entirely made out of timber and is heavily decorated with pine cones and wooden carvings. The interior features walls lined with deer skin and the inner room is plastered with deer knuckle-bones!??! A summerhouse of the weird kind :-)
