A May Forest
During the bank holiday weekend we spend some time searching for a bluebell forest close to Ilfracombe. I read about Borough Woods which was listed as a nice forest to visit during the bluebell season. I had a look on google maps and found a car park close to the southern end of the forest which was even labelled Borough Woods. As we approached a nearby farm we were greeted by two yapping sausage dogs followed by a man who firmly send us away again because it was his private land. A bit disappointed we tried our luck from the northern end of the woods at the small coastal hamlet Lee and we eventually entered the woods using a designated walk. Due to very muddy paths we did not explore very deeply but it was really beautiful in any case with lush jungle like vegetation, a little stream and of course - bluebells :-)
