Elenco Records, the most significant independent record label in the history of Bossa Nova and Música Popular Brasileira (MPB) in Brazil, was founded in Rio De Janeiro in 1963 by Aloysio De Oliveira.

Vinicius De Moraes, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Baden Powell, Edu Lobo, Nara Leão and others were able to produce innovative, forward-looking music with complete creative freedom.
