Back Yard Surprise

I was working on some photos I had taken this morning at Circle B Bar Reserve, and I got thirsty. I remembered I had left my "Big"

drinking glass on the back porch. I went out to get it and saw this one sitting on the old stump in my back yard. I just knew it would

fly as soon as it saw me. I forgot about my glass, and slowly walked back into the house to retrieve my camera. I went back onto the porch and just knew it would be gone, but there it was, still perched on the stump. Now I had to make it to the door in order to get a shot of it. No way was I going to make it before it flew. He (she) had seen me and was watching as I slowly made my way to the open door. To my amazement it did not fly.

I made it to the door and got off four shots before it decided that was enough, and vacated the area!

Sometimes you just get lucky. I think this is a Juvenile Red-shouldered Hawk or a Juvenile Coopers Hawk. Have trouble telling them apart!

I'm voting for Red-shouldered. I see a little rust color on its shoulder!
