Moon

View On Black... Sirius Black... <--Having a Harry Potter week at the moment ;)

*JPEG conversion has again ruined this compared to pretty-aperture-appearance, but meh, the noise was enough to kill it for me :/ *

So, I had the worst night shooting -ever- last night. Went out to see what I thought of the new Hydrostatic ball head (overrated, I'd say. 16kg weight limit is a joke - 4 kilo at best!). First the sunset was -crap-, then not to be discouraged I took some really lovely nature shots that all looked great on the LCD, only to notice 5 minutes before packing up that they were all shot at 1250ISO. IDIOT. Something about magic hour shots with no flash at 1/1000th should have twigged, shouldn't it?!

Anyway, I was determined to get something out of this shoot, considering how far I'd driven for it. So I mounted up the 70-200 with teleconverters and pointed it at the virtually full moon. Had some -really- high winds which kept ruining exposures as I was miles from shelter, so had to take this at ISO400 in the end, but I hope you like it anyway. I know it's nothing special, but the moon is pretty, and ultracool in the context of this

I wish I had the money/time/location for astronomy/astrophotography, but such is life!
