My platoon way back in history
I thought that my British Flickr friends might get a kick out of this. The arrow is me.
This picture was taken in October 1952 at Hillsea Barracks, Portsmouth, Hants, England.
I was a raw recruit in the Royal Army Ordinance Corps, doing my two years National service, and was in training as a storeman. This was during the Korean War.
I was later posted to Bicester, Oxfordshire, for about 20 months. The second guy from the left in the front row was my best friend Arnold Shaffer. We kept in touch until just a few years ago when we lost touch.
