The "Museum aan de Stroom" (MAS = Dutch for "Museum by the River") is a museum located along the river Scheldt. It opened in May 2011.
The MAS is the largest museum in Antwerp and arguably the most visually arresting, MAS is a sight to behold, with its multiple, staggered red sandstone levels rising 60m into the air. It houses nearly half a million items, with a mere (!) 180,000 on display, all focusing on the city of Antwerp. While explanations are in Dutch, the spectacular views need no translating and are worthy of the visit alone where you can see over the busy industrial port as well as the many gorgeous historical buildings.
